Mrs. Roekle was born January 27, 1919 at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Karl J.
and Ida E. Knuth Kawalle. She was baptized and confirmed at First German
Evangelical Lutheran Church and was educated at Manitowoc graduating from
Lincoln High School with the Class of 1936. She was married to Rev. Armin C.
Roeckle, November 5, 1941 at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev.
L.H. Koeninger. Her husband preceded her in death January 15, 1967. Before her
retirement in 1981, Mrs. Roekle was employed with the Manitowoc Board of
Education. She was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church and
Ladies Aid of the church.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Karl and Diane Roekle of
Friendship, Wisconsin, Paul and Shari Roekle of Manitowoc, John and Pam Roekle
of Appleton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Eugene Hartwig of Maribel
and Ruth and William Hirschfeld of Fort Atkinson; a brother and sister-in-law,
Arthur and Emily Kawalle of Manitowoc; 19 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister,
Olivia Paulmann and two grandchildren, Angela and Philip Roekle.
Friends may call at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5 pm to 9 pm
Sunday and on Monday after 9:30 am until the hour of service. Memorials would
be appreciated to First German Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund,
Manitowoc Lutheran High School Scholarship fund and Bethany School Extension
