ARTHUR W. KAWALLE

Arthur W. Kawalle, age 93, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, 1235
S. 24th St., Manitowoc, formerly of 2415 S. 10th St., Manitowoc, entered eternal
life early on Wednesday morning, Sept. 24, 2008, at the care center.
Arthur was born on Nov. 24, 1914, in Manitowoc, son of the late Karl and Ida
(Knuth) Kawalle. Arthur attended Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, and continued
his education at Lakeshore Technical Institute. He worked with his father at the
family business, the Copper Boiler and Heater Works, which he eventually took
over and operated. In 1961, Arthur became employed with Burger Boat Company until
he retired in 1982. On Oct. 23, 1948, he married Emily Elizabeth Seibel at First
German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on
March 18, 2003. Arthur was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church,
and had served on the church council in past years. Arthur enjoyed watching the
Badger Car Ferry, going for car rides, dining out and riding his exercise bike.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and James Tisler, Johnson
Creek; Marilyn and Gene Weyer, Manitowoc; and Barbara and Warren Knutson, Manitowoc;
a son-in-law: Larry Nelson, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
and two sisters-in-law: Gladys Seibel and Dorothy Seibel, both of Manitowoc. Nieces,
nephews, along with other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in
death by his wife: Emily; one daughter: Diane Nelson; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at First German
Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1033 S. 8th St., Manitowoc. Officiating will be the
Rev. Steven Hahm, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Relatives and friends may call at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church on
Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
The family would appreciate memorials to be directed to First German Evangelical
Lutheran Church.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, N. 11th and St. Clair streets,
Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and care givers
on the fourth floor at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center for the care and support
that was given to Arthur while he resided there.
