Martha R. Gatten, daughter of Obadiah and Sarah Sparks Nalley, was born in Wayne Township, Monroe County, Ohio, on March 19, 1884, and departed this life on March 30, 1960, being at the time of her death, 76 years and eleven days of age.
She was united in marriage with John Gatten on August 5, 1905. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a good neighbor.
She was a member of The Richfork Church of Christ.
Surviving are her husband and five children, Floyd Gatten, of Woodsfield, Route 2; Mrs. Flavil Bates, of Woodsfield, Route 3; Mrs. Evalee Harold and Mrs. Winona Abricht, of Marietta, Ohio, and Mrs. Irene Stultz, of Ashland, Ohio. Also, surviving are fourteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, George Nalley, of Creston, Ohio, and two sisters, Mrs. Nora Fisher, of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Laura Smith, of Oregon. Besides these, she leaves other relatives and many friends.
One son, John Junior, two grandsons, and one great-granddaughter, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted by Minister J. V. A. Traylor at The Bauer and Turner Funeral Chapel on Saturday afternoon, April 2nd, at two o'clock. Burial was made in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.
