She dedicated her life to the Lord at an early age, joining Ebenezer M. B. Church and later united with Center Church of God. Lillie was a faithful member of the church, Sunday school, mission, and the choir until she became ill. She served as the Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Bathsheba Chapter number 106 for more than 20 years.
Mrs. Lillie Alston received her early education in Leake and Attala County. She continued her education at Jackson State University, Tougaloo College, and Tuskegee University. Lillie retired from Head Start after 27 years of dedicated service.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Ollie Nash. To this union, one child was born. Later she united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Fate Columbus Alston, who preceded her in death.
Lillie Alston leaves to cherish her memories, one loving daughter, LueBerta (Robert) Grady of Kosciusko, MS; three step-sons, Ezell (Ellen) Alston of Kosciusko, MS; Wardell (Remy) Alston of Alexandria, VA; and Perry Alston of Chicago, IL; one granddaughter Shemeka (LaMichael) Funchess of Kosciusko, MS; two great-grandsons, Jamerious and Kamarion Funchess, who were the apple of her eye. One devoted sister, Pearline (R. J.) Jones of Carthage, MS. A host of sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
