She was born on Jan. 24, 1945, in Peoria, the daughter of Raymond and Eleanor (Hoagland) McGahey. She married Andreas P. Abarca in Peoria in 1977.
Carol is survived by her two children, Rhonda Fix of Chillicothe and Michael Abarca of Chillicothe; and also by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandchild.
She had worked in the health care field for many years as a nurse's aide, last being at Heritage Health in Chillicothe.
Carol loved to play bingo.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery at a later date. A celebration of life luncheon will be at the Whistle Stop, located at 1718 N. Santa Fe Ave., Chillicothe, following the services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
