Alexander LaFountain had 3 wives (Olive St. Louis (c1835 – c1865), Adeline Coryea (1833 – 1875) and Caroline Archangela Elizabeth Cornouiller (1844 – after 1883)) and possibly as many as 23 children. Only 11 were still living at the time of his death when he was approximately 68 years old which means many must have died young.

The obituary here says he was born in Canada, but the census records list him and his parents as being born in Michigan.
