Gertie Kohl was the daughter of Jacob and Easter Kohl. She was united in marriage to Harmon Sankey, Dec. 19, 1899, and to this union six children were born, three sons and three daughters.
The early years of their married life were spent in the Hardy vicinity and they moved to Republic in 1908, their home since that time.
She was preceded in death by her husband and infant son, her parents, four brothers and one sister and one great-granddaughter.
Surviving are two sons, John of Republic and Harold of Great Bend, Kan,; three daughters, Elsie McMannama and Edith McClure of Republic, and Lillie Elliott of Los Alamitos, Calif.; three sisters, Nellie Conley, Myrtle Sankey and Stella Roland of Superior; one brother, John of Lebanon, Ore., 11 grandchildren; seven great-grand children.
