Elsie McMannama, daughter of Harmon and Gertie Sankey was born on September 1, 1901, on a farm near Hardy and died April 13, 1982, at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville at the age of 80 years.
She moved to Republic with her parents as a child and was a graduate of Republic High School. After graduation she taught rural schools in the Republic area for 14 years.
She was united in marriage to Jesse McMannama on June 1, 1933. They owned and operated a variety store in Republic until their retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, Ollie, and a brother, John of Republic.
She is survived by her husband Jesse, a brother, Harold Sankey of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Edith) McClure, Republic; and Mrs. E. J. (Lillie) Elliott, Laguna Hills, Calif., one aunt Mrs. Stella Roland, Superior, nine nephews and two nieces.
Funeral services were held at the Tibbetts Memorial Chapel April 16 with the Rev. James Bush of Republic officiating. Burial was in Lake cemetery north of Republic.
