John Hoene, 77, hardware and implement dealer here since 1907, died at his home at 5:30 this morning Dec 21. Death was due to a heart attack according to Dr. WF Orr who was called when Mr. Hoene became suddenly ill about 2 am.

Enjoying good health, Mr. Hoene had attended a party for his employees Thursday night.

Born at Greencreek, IL Nov 11, 1974, Mr. Hoene first came to Idaho with his parents in 1898. He engaged in the lumber business at Keuterville a number of years before settling at Cottonwood. In 1906 he moved to Twin Falls but returned in 1907 to erect the Hoene Hardware store now operated by a son, August Hoene. He established the Hoene Implement firm he has managed in 1946.

Mr. and Mrs. Hoene observed their 50th wedding anniversary here Nov 5.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; five sons, August, Herman, John Jr, Edward and Virgil; a brother, Frank Hoene and two sisters, Mrs. Gerhard Uhlenkott and Miss Mary Hoene.

He was a communicant of the Catholic church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
