JOHN P. (TIM) HOENE, RETIRED IMPLEMENT DEALER

COTTONWOOD John P. (Tim) Hoene, a retired co-owner and operator of John Hoene Implement Co. at Cottonwood, died of smoke inhalation early Thursday morning in a fire at his Cottonwood home. He was 71.

He was born July 4, 1920, at Cottonwood to John and Susanna Seubert Hoene. He attended St. Joseph's Grade School and then St. Gertrude's Academy, both at Cottonwood.

He attended Gonzaga University at Spokane for three years before returning to Cottonwood in 1946 to operate the implement business with his brother, Edward. From 1948 to 1950, he lived in a seminary in California and during the Korean War years, was active in the logging businesses and operated the Cottonwood Dray Line.

He then returned to work at John Hoene Implement Co. until ill health forced his retirement. He never married.

Hoene enjoyed fishing and was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Cottonwood and a member of the Cottonwood Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include a brother, August E. Hoene of Cottonwood.

Three brothers, Edward, Herman and Virgil, four infant brothers and three infant sisters died previously.

The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tonight with the funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, both at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Muha will be the celebrant and burial will follow at the Cottonwood Catholic Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the St. Mary's Hospital Ambulance Fund. Unlorn Funeral Home at Cottonwood is in charge of arrangements.
