Obituary for Mary Etta Gadd Cameron Calico
Mary Etta Gadd Cameron Calico, age 93, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. She was a native of Disputana in Rockcastle County, born November 08, 1917 to the Late James and Sara Chasteen Gadd. She was retired from Eastern Kentucky University and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Berea. She loved to go to church, to quilt, and her family was the light of her life.
Mrs. Calico is survived by: her husband, Gilbert Calico of Berea; her daughters, Betty Jordan of Quincy, IN, Willadean Cameron of Berea, Dorothy (Benny) Stephens of Covington, KY., and Kathy (Lowell) Thomas of Venice, FL. Her sisters, Rose Ada Peters and Barbara Spires both of Berea.Her daughter-in-law, Geraldine Cameron of Berea. Her stepson, Orville Gene Calico of Berea. Her grandchildren, Duane and Michael Cameron, Tony, Steve, and Carlyle Shearer, Johnna Kosnoff, Dinah Ennis, Tracy and Chuck Guinn, Don Stephens, Amy Workman and Jenny Jobe. 25 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren also survive.
Other than her parents she was also preceded in death by: her first husband Charles F. Cameron,her son, Thomas Cameron, 4 brothers, Lewis, Willie, Ed and James T. Gadd and 2 sisters, Mae Abney and Geneva Sebastian.
Services for Mrs. Calico will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Davis, Rev. Randy McPheron and Chaplain James Demaray officiating. Burial will follow in the Scaffold Cane Cemetery; her family will serve as pallbearers.
