Mae Marie Gadd Abney, age 79, of Barker Lane in Berea, died Saturday at the Berea Hospital. She was a native of Berea, a housewife and a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Waco, Ky. Daughter of the late James Patterson and Sarah Chasteen Gadd.

Mrs. Abney is survived by: husband, Everett Abney; 8 sons, Preston (Linda) Abney, Lee Abney, Vernon (Martha) Abney, Bluford Abney, Doug (Debbie) Abney, Mitchell Abney all of Berea, Jimmy (Lisa) Abney of Richmond, Lewis Abney of Louisville; 4 daughters, Mary (J.B.) Combs of Chatsworth, Ga., Allie (Ray) Wood of Rockcastle County, Sarah (Roy) Combs and Kay Abney of Berea; sisters, Mary Etta Calico, Barbara Spires and Rose Ada Peters of Berea; brother, J. T. Gadd of Berea. 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services for Mrs. Abney will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Davis-Witt Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
