Lorna Jean Alvarez was born to Edward V. and Emma (McFarland) Gabriel. She spent most of her life in Stanfield, and in 1945, she married Frank D. Alvarez. They lived there in Stanfield for 61 years.
She worked at the Umatilla Army Depot, and for over 20 years at the Sears store in Hermiston until her retirement. She also volunteered at Agape House once or twice a week.
Mrs. Alvarez passed on at Terrace Assisted Living Facility in Hermiston at age 85. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Alvarez; parents, Vern and Emma Gabriel; two brothers, Kendall and Gail Gabriel; and two sisters, Virginia Revem and Judy Brown.
She leaves her son and her two daughters; her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; as well as her sister, Dena Emery of Cove, OR along with another sister in CA, and two brothers, Bob Gabriel of Hermiston, OR, and Ed Gabriel of Burlingame, CA.
