A GOOD CITIZEN AND NEIGHBOR
The everlasting gratitude of the firs warders in particular, and the town in general, is due our friend Joe Ewry. As a humanitarian he stands pre-eminent, as a gentleman Joe is without a peer, but as a "snow remover" the towers like Everest of the Himalayas, far above his neighbors. Yesterday morning while the beautiful pure came down in chunks as large a a human being--could desire, and as the average citizen sat near the bas burner in his home and looking out at the millions of snow flakes, wonder how they would ever be shoveled off the walks, Joe Ewry drove in sight, first his noble horse, then the snow plow with Joe upon it holding the reins driving the horse onward and onward. Well sir, the way the snow gave way was intensely gratifying to the beholders. "Joe a good un, and don't you forget it." Why it's has got so that the Third Streeters don't think of shoveling snow any more for they know that Joe will scatter it for them. Had you seen him yesterday with a procession behind him a square long of those who were waiting for a clear coast before going up town you would have thought so. All honor to Joe Ewry.
