Mother of eleven children and wife to John Ewry.
-----------
Death of Mrs. John Ewry. Another old and honored resident of Lafayette has passed away. On Wednesday morning at the family residence on north Fourth Street occurred the death of Mrs. Mary E. Ewry, age 80 years. She had been ill for a long time and her recovery was beyond recall. Thought her demise was not expected this fact dose not assuage the intense grieve of relatives near and dear and many friends. She survived her husband but a few weeks; they walked hand in hand through this live and it was his will that they be garnered together. Deceased was born in Frederick County, Maryland, February 22, 1807, married to her late husband in 1828, near Dayton, Ohio, she the same year, emigrated to this city with him, where she since resided. Her maiden name was Mary E. Shill. The surviving children are; Jacob, John, Jr of Portland, Oregon; William H., Joseph S., George H. and Charles E. Ewry of Pueblo, Col., Mrs. Wm. H. Pifer and Mrs. Wm. D. Hiller. The funeral occurred on Friday afternoon from the family residence, Rev. W. P. Kane, of the Second Presbyterian church, officiating. The pall bearers were the sons of the deceased. Burial was at Springvale cemetery, Lafayette, Indiana.
