George Richard Egan, 80, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2009 at Garden Terrace Care Center surrounded by his family.


George was born on January 22, 1929 to David and Elizabeth Easton Egan in Salt Lake City, UT.


George graduated from East High School, where he played basketball. He attended the University of Utah and was a life long Ute fan. He served in the U.S. Army before he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Gaddis, on December 19, 1950.


George worked as an executive in the insurance industry, retiring from the State of Utah Insurance Department as the Special Deputy Commissioner holding CIE and FLMI professional certifications. He was named the "Boss of the Year " by the Insurance Women of Salt Lake in 1992. George loved his family, his dogs, riding motorcycles, camping in his motor home, golf, and U of U Basketball, Football, and Gymnastics.


George was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters, a son T. David and a daughter Lorraine. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pat, and three children, Georgette (Phil) Bevan, Jeff (Susan) Egan, and James (Kellie) Egan and his sister Elaine (Clayton) Williams, eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.


Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East). Friends may call on Thursday, July 9, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.
Burial will be in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
