OGDEN - Mrs. Elizabeth Easton Egan, 71, Salt Lake City, active worker in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in an Ogden hospital after a heart attack. She had been visiting a daughter in Ogden, Mrs. LeRoy R. Stevens, when she suffered the attack early Wednesday.
She was president of the Primary Assn. in the Salt Lake City Sixth and Seventh LDS Wards for a total of 10 years, was president of the Twentieth Ward Relief Society for 12 years. In addition, she was a temple worker in The Salt Lake Temple for 14 years, was a genealogical research worker and taught religion classes.
Born June 29, 1887, at Almy, Wyo., she was a daughter of George A. and Jane Cupples Easton. She taught school in Byron, Wyo., before her marriage to David Egan in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 11, 1906. She was the mother of nine children, eight are still living.
Survivors include her husband; six daughers, two sons, Harold E. Egan, George R. Egan, Mrs. Robert C. (Laura) Sloan, Mrs. J. Harold (LaRue) Keddington, Mrs. Milton G. (Edith) Derrick, Mrs. Jay H. (Mary Jane) Johnson, all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. George B. (Florence) Alder, Bountiful; Mrs. LeRoy R. (Elaine) Stevens, Ogden.
Also surviving are five sisters, three brothers, Mrs. William (Jeanette) Peterson, Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. James B. (Jean) Jensen, Preston, Idaho; William Easton, Mrs. Guy V. (Mary) Cutler, both of Glendale, Calif.; Mrs. Ray (Marie) Brown, American Fork; Mrs. Norval E. (Irene) Safford, Salt Lake City; Andrew Easton, Anchorage, Alaska; Albert Easton, Price. Twenty-six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 12:15 p.m. in the North Twentieth LDS Ward Chapel, 107 G St. (300 East), Salt Lake City.
