Josephine Elizabeth Dees, 106, of Many, died at Many Health Care North on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m., at Fort Jesup First Baptist Church. The Revs. Arthur Haymon, H. H. Tibbits, and Glenn Flenniken officiated. Burial followed at the Fort Jesup Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Wayne Colston, Luke Pearson, Tommy Bush, Mark Jordan, Danny Warren, and Todd Rowe.

Born in Sabine Parish on August 2, 1896, she was the daughter of Mollie Oxley Tynes and Hicks Tynes.

Survivors include her daughters, Audrey Colston of Many, and Mae Belle Jordan of Shreveport; one son, James Dees of Natchitoches; two sisters, Vera Honeycutt, and Velma Sims, both of Vowels Mills; 11 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Dees; one
daughter, Ollie Marshall; and one son, Curtis Dees.
