Bob was born on July 17, 1940, at home, to Alvin and Nellie (Ayen) Colden of Hollandale, Wis. He attended and graduated from Hollandale High School. He served his country as a United States Army Reservist. He was married to Bertha "Bert" Zimmerman on Oct. 8, 1966, at St. James Catholic Church of Madison, and enjoyed 47 years of wedded bliss. Bob was the owner and operator of Waterloo Bowl for a number of years and worked as a house painter and estimator. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, loved watching all sporting events, a Wisconsin Badger Hockey season ticket holder, and loved spending time golfing and socializing at the Columbus Country Club. Bob adored his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include wife, Bert of Marshall; sons, Brad (Angie) of Whittier, Calif., and Bryan (Michelle) of Marshall; daughter, Brenda (Christopher) McDonald of Los Angeles, Calif.; his beloved grandchildren, Peyton, Paige and Ellison; sisters, Erma Plantikow of Janesville, and Doris Plantikow of Hollandale. Bob is also survived by other relative and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at HOLY FAMILY PARISH — WATERLOO CAMPUS with Father Michael Radowicz of St. Bernard's Catholic Church of Madison presiding. Friends are invited to attend a visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
