Through her father, William H.H. Wilcox , and his mother, Anna Gertrude (Eacker) Wilcox, she is a descendant of Capt. George Herkimer (sometimes referred to as Colonel), who with his more famous brother, General Nicholas Herkimer, fought in the Revolutionary War.

She was the granddaughter of William H.H. Wilcox, a Civil War veteran who was part of a famous escape from Libby Prison during the war.

She also is related to Revolutionary War veterans, including her direct ancestor Capt. George Herkimer (sometimes referred to as Colonel), who with his more famous brother, General Nicholas Herkimer , served in the war.

She also is related to George I. Eacker, who shot Alexander Hamilton's son, Philip, in a duel. George I. Eacker was the brother of her great-grandfather Jacob I. Eacker. George is buried at St. Paul's Churchyard in Manhattan.

She also is descended from the Finck family , which included several Revolutionary War veterans. Her 3rd great-grandfather was Andreas Finck who was believed to have served in the Revolutionary War and several of his sons and sons-in-law served, including his son, Major Andrew Finck Junior.

An article about her wedding to Melvin Russell Colborn:
Colborn- Wilcox

The home of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Wilcox, of 209 Summer Avenue, was the scene of a pretty wedding last night, when their daughter, Miss Mabel F. Wilcox, and Mr. M. Russell Colborn, son of Dr. and Mrs. Robert M. Colborn, were married by the Rev. James Benninger, of Plymouth, Pa.

The bride was gowned in white messaline, trimmed with duchess lace, and carried a shower bouquet of bride roses. She wore a long tulle veil, caught up with her engagement ring, and she also wore a pearl brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. Mrs. Edith Fox was maid of honor, attired, in a cream pongee, trimmed with chiny lace, and carrying pink asters, Miss Ellinora Colborn, a sister of the bridegroom, acted as flower girl, gowned in white and carrying a basket of asters.

Arthur Knies, of White Haven, Pa. was best man, and Jesse Wilcox and Foster Wilcox, brothers of the bride, acted as ushers.

The house was decorated with palms, ferns and pink asters.

After a wedding supper the couple left for a trip to Niagara Falls, Canada and Ohio. They will reside at 283 Clifton Avenue.
