Edna’s birth date is incorrectly listed as July 1878 in her father’s military papers (filled out by William’s second wife). Her mother died in May 1878, so she couldn’t have been born in July of that year. Her obituary shows a birth date of sometime in February 1878.

Based on an obituary for Edna, her birth date would be somewhere in February 1878. Edna's mother, Emily, died in July 1878 because of tuberculosis. Her pregnancy with little Edna must have also taken a toll on her body.

Through her father's mother, Anna Gertrude (Eacker) Wilcox, she is a descendant of Capt. George Herkimer (sometimes referred to as Colonel), who with his more famous brother, General Nicholas Herkimer , fought in the Revolutionary War.

Edna is buried near her mother and siblings and grandparents. Her father is buried in NJ with his second wife and family.
