Margaret S. Aycock, 78, a lifelong resident of Ocean View, died June 26, 1995, in DePaul Hospital.
Mrs. Aycock was born in Norfolk and was an active member of Talbot Park Baptist Church. She was a retired sales manager after many years. She was a volunteer at the Ocean View Senior Center, where she was recognized as an outstanding volunteer; lifelong resident of Ocean View, where she was very involved in its history and different activities there; and a local pianist. Mrs. Aycock was devoted to and loved animals, especially cats of which she raised many little strays and now leaves four living. She was the family historian for names, dates, places and events.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley V. Aycock of Norfolk; a sister, Eula Mae Jaiser of Moyock, N.C.; her estranged husband, George R. Aycock of Norfolk; two nieces, Mellie M. Maddox of Moyock and Elizabeth Harrison of Chesapeake; and three nephews, Ernest L. Johnson Jr. and William F. Butt, both of Virginia Beach, and William "Bud" Johnson of Poinciana, Fla. She was predeceased by her parents, Lidie Mae Butt and William H. Butt.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by Dr. Harry T. Dixon Jr. and the Rev. M. Keith Martin. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial donations may be sent to Talbot Park Baptist Church or the Norfolk SPCA.
She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
