Edith Bloom, 92, of Decatur, passed away at 8:35 am Thursday, February 5, 2009 in Moweaqua Nursing and Retirement Center.
Graveside services to celebrate Edith's life will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Illini Cemetery in Warrensburg. The "Flight Home" Ceremony will conclude the service. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements.
Edith was born July 29, 1916 in Warrensburg the daughter of Noah and Leona L. (Major) Buckley. She married Donald G Bloom on October 30, 1938 in Crown Point, IN. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1999. Edith and her husband owned and operated North Side Launderette and Bloom's Grocery, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
She leaves behind her son; Tom Bloom and wife Nancy of Decatur, daughter; Jane Severns and husband Rod of Decatur, grandchildren Chris Bradley and husband Carl of Urbana and Scot Bloom and wife Michelle of Germantown, and four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Abie, Curtisee and Clara.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son Michael.
