Phyllis Rahlf was born on January 18, 1930 in rural Muscatine, the daughter of Walter and Gertrude (Gertenback) Barnhart. On November 19, 1950, Phyllis was united in marriage to Henry Rahlf in Cranston, Iowa. Phyllis was a teacher for over 40 years, she taught in rural schools in Muscatine County and also at Madison, McKinley and Jefferson Elementary in Muscatine. She retired in 1991. Phyllis was a member of the Sweetland United Methodist Church and a card club. She volunteered with Unity Hospital Auxiliary. Phyllis enjoyed needlework and crafts. Her greatest love was being with her family and friends.
Phyllis will be deeply missed by her husband, Henry Rahlf of Muscatine; one son, Steve Rahlf of Muscatine; two grandchildren, Clayton and Alexis Rahlf; three sisters, Jean Theobald of Muscatine, Gladys Castle of Muscatine and JoAnn Nelson of Muscatine; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Wayne; brothers, Forrest Barnhart, Wayne Barnhart and Weldon (Gloria) Barnhart; sister, Marilyn Barnhart; and one brother-in-law, Richard Boldt.
