ELLIS — Donald Lee "Duke" Augustine, 72, died May 10 at the Hays Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 5, 1938, the son of Joseph and Sophie (Weber) Augustine. He was employed as a janitor for St. Mary's Catholic School and Fort Hays State University. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing Bingo and lottery tickets.
Mr. Augustine was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a 4th Degree Ellis Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include two sons, Patrick Augustine, Russell, and children Jeffrey, Jillian and Javian Augustine; and Terry Augustine and wife Tiffany, Wichita, and child, Dallas Augustine; a daughter, Paula Moore-Daniels, and husband Travis, Great Bend, and children, Jordan and Jalen Daniels; four brothers, Leonard, Ellis; Elmer, Hays; and Harold and Larry, Hutchinson; three sisters, Martha Beer, WaKeeney; Dorothy Younger, McPherson; and Janie Daniels, Laramie, Wyo. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Augustine; and three grandchildren, Jaxon, Jaden and Jacen.
Funeral services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Burial will follow services in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, both at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A combined 3rd and 4th Degree Ellis Council Knights of Columbus Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by a parish vigil service at 7 p.m.
