James H. Anderson
WEISER — James Hyde Anderson, 85, a long-time resident of Weiser, died Sunday at Murtaugh following a short illness.
Mr. Anderson was born Jan. 27, 1879, at Millville, Utah, and moved to Cardston, Alberta, Canada, by covered wagon with his parents as a child. He was raised in Cardston, and later fulfilled a mission in the north-western states for the Church or Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was married to Lillie Brown in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple April 8, 1903. They moved to Weiser April 12, 1919, farming in the Sunnyside district until retiring in 1947.
Active in civic affairs, Mr. Anderson was an organizer of the Farmers Cooperative Creamery. He was a member of the First Ward, LDS Church, at Weiser, and was active in many activities, including drama.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Mrs, Lillie Anderson, Weiser; three sons, F. Jim Anderson and Lowell Anderson, both of Weiser, and Ross Anderson, Reno, Nev.; four daughters, Mrs. Sheldon Alder, Weiser, Mrs. Sam Lemon, Murtaugh, Mrs. Tom Thompson, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Walter Stephan, Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, 28 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Idaho Supreme Court Judge Donald Anderson of Boise.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Weiser LDS Church by Bishop Leon Bergquist. Interment will follow at Hillcrest.
