FOUR PERSONS KILLED IN CAR ACCIDENT AT COUTTS
3 Members Of Sillito Family Die - Herald Staff Writer COUTTS -
Four persons were killed and five others seriously injured in a two-car collision Saturday evening at the north entrance of Coutts on Highway 4.
Three of the dead and all injured persons were members of the Sillito family of 1824 10th Ave. N. in Lethbridge.
Dead are: Mrs. Ruth Sillito, 43, her four-year-old daughter Terry, and Mrs. Sillito's mother, Mrs. Attena Leishman, 67, and the driver of the other car, P.W. Harvie, 23, a farmer of Coutts.
With serious injuries in Great Falls hospital are Patricia Sillito, 18, driver of the Sillito car, and her cousin Camille Palsky, of Lethbridge.
In Shelby hospital are Glen Sillito. 48, his daughter Dorothy, 9, and his son Bryce, 15. Mr. Sillito, is a member of the teaching staff of Lethbridge School division No. 7.
Mr. Harvie died in Shelby hospital. The other victims died at the scene of the accident.
DOING FINE Camille Paisley received severe head and brain injuries. Patricia Sillito suffered multiple injuries, head and brain injuries and concussions.Both girls were transferred from Shelby hospital to Great Falls, for treatment by specialists. Hospital reported both as doing fine Monday morning. Members of the Sillito family in Shelby hospital are reported in fairly good condition. Mr. Sillito suffered a fractured right thigh, as well as bruises and cuts to the face. His daughter Dorothy fractured her skull and left thigh. Bryce is in hospital with fractured jaw and collarbone. The Sillitos were returning to Lethbridge from Shelby where they met Mrs. Leishman, who had been visiting in Indiana.
The RCMP in Coutts are investigating the accident. No details of cause and circumstances were released. Coroner Dr. T.J. Clementi of Milk River ordered an inquest. No date has been set.
Mr. Harvie, a farmer, is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Harvie of Coutts: three brothers, John J. of Coutts, Charles B. of Washington and David D. of Sweetgrass, Montana, and one sister, Nettie, at home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sillito and Terry Sillito will be held Thursday.in the Lethbridge Stake House. Burial will be in Archmount Memorial Gardens. Funeral services for Mrs. Leishman also will be held Thursday in the Lethbridge Stake House
