Earl G. Alexander, 86, a lifelong resident of Collingsworth County, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 1:25 p.m. at Wellington Care Center.

Mr. Alexander was born May 17, 1899 in a half dugout in the Lutie community. His father was Lyman Terry Alexander and his mother Emma Stell Winney Alexander.

Mr. Alexander's family was in Texas while it was a province of Mexico. His great grandfather Amos Alexander was a founder of Bastrop, and was killed in 1835 by Indians as he was hauling supplies to his general mercantile store in that town. He was a former ASCS county committeeman in Childress County, a former member of the Loco School board, the Loco gin Board of Directors, and the administrative board of First United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bess Alexander, two daughters, Mrs. Edna Smith of Sweeney and Mrs. Louise Craft of Earth; a daughter-in-law, Betty Alexander of Austin; a brother, John L. Alexander of Frankston; a sister, Mrs. Thelma Bairfield of Clarendon; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
