Los Angeles Mayor. He served as Mayor of Los Angeles, California from 1886 to 1888. He made his mark in two areas of Los Angeles politics and the city's infrastructure: had Fort (now known as Broadway), Spring, Hill, and Main streets paved. During his term on the Park Commission, he donated two thirds of his land for Hollenbeck Park.
