Charlotte W. Masson; Daughter of Pioneers. Mrs. Charlotte Workman Masson, whose father William Henry Workman, was Mayor of Los Angeles in the 1880's died Wednesday in her home at 117 N. Plymouth Blvd. She was 89. Born in Los Angeles, Mrs. Masson was baptized in St. Vibiana's Cathedral shortly after it was built. Her godparents were then Gov. and Mrs. John Downey. The city's Boyle Heights district was named after her maternal grandfather, Andrew Boyle, who settled there in 1857. She was the sister of the late Boyle Workman, one-time city councilman who played a major role in the financing and building of the present city hall. He died in 1942 at the age of 74. Mrs. Masson was married to Charles M. Masson, an electrical and mechanical engineer, in 1910. He died in 1952. She had served as general chairman of the First Century Families annual luncheon and chairman of the Los Angeles City Birthday Fiesta. She also was a life member of the Historical Society of Southern California, a member of the Ruskin Art Club and the Brownson House Settlement Assn. and had been active in early-day orphans' affairs. Mrs. Masson leaves a brother, Thomas E. Workman of Los Angeles, and a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Furman of Princeton N.J.
