Elmer L. Argetsinger, a well known resident of Couderay and Sawyer County, passed away at the Wisconsin General Hospital in Madison on May 19, following a lingering illness.

He was born in the state of Michigan on May 27, 1877, and had reached the age of 77 years at the time of his death.

In 1904, he was united in marriage to Mabel Dorland at Chippewa Falls. They moved to Iron River and then to Solon Springs, where they lived for a short time. They later moved to Radisson and then to Couderay and in 1948 he started as a rural mail carrier in the Township of Couderay. For 35 years he served as the town treasurer and served until the time of his death. Mr. Argetsinger was an elder of the Presbyterian Church of Couderay and a member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge of Exeland.

Survivors are his wife, Mabel; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry Parkos of Minneapolis and Mrs. Harvey WIlley of St. Paul, MN; three sons, Elmer Jr. of Park River, ND, John of Klamath, OR, and Ray of Couderay; one brother Henry of Superior; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Davidson of St. Paul, MN and Mrs. Fern Miller of Milwaukee and 13 grandchildren.

The body lay in state at the Anderson Chapel until Saturday afternoon when it was removed to the family residence at COuderay.

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at 3PM from the Presbyterian Church in Couderay with Rev. Harold Stark officiating. The interment took place in the Couderay Cemetery.

The pallbearers were John Block, Edward Anderson, Herman Miller, Frank Patterson, Chester Poradish, and Robert Ryan.
