Calvin Luther Augur, 70, died in Decatur January 28, 1926. He was born in Mosquito Township near Mt. Auburn on May 5, 1855, a son of Andrew and Emily Sharp Augur. His education was completed at Wesleyan College, Bloomington, Illinois.

November 1, 1877, he married Laura Alice Osborn, the daughter of Robert and Phebe (Stineman) Osborn. They had one son, Raymond O. Augur.

He was a retired farmer. At the time of his death, he was still living on his 400 acre farm near Mt. Auburn. He had held several offices in the township, and was assessor for seven successive years. He was a Democrat, an excellent business man, and for several years had entire control of his father's business. He was a stockholder and director in the Farmers' State Bank at Illiopolis, Illinois. His wealth is chiefly in notes and mortgages.

He was buried January 30 in a mausoleum in Greenwood cemetery in Decatur. Then on
Sunday afternoon, May 9, 1926, burial services for Mr. Augur were conducted in Mt. Auburn cemetery. Short services were conducted at the grave with Rev. L. D. Hopper, paster of the local Methodist church, officiating assisted by the Mt. Auburn and Taylorville Knights of Pythias.
