Claude Watson "Spade" Marshall of Christiansburg ended his earthly journey on Sunday, March 29, 2015 which began on August 16, 1928 in Dugspur, Virginia. Spade was the son of Ira A. "Kid" and Mettie V. Marshall. He had 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

Spade was married to the love of his life, Lucenda Charity Quesenberry ("Sylvie") for 57 wonderful years until The Lord called her home in August of 2010.

He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Bob Ashcraft; brother Vinton Marshall and his wife Juanita of; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Roy, Brenda, and Tyler Lyons. Debbie, Bob, and Brenda were at his side when he passed.

He was blessed with many friends and good neighbors, including Joe and Peggy Quesenberry and Matt and Loretta Wilburn, who made sure he was getting along OK from the time he lost Sylvie until Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases caused him to leave his home.

At English Meadows Senior Living Community he had many special friends. We want to thank them all, and the staff, for the care they provided on a daily basis. We also want to thank everyone at Good Samaritan Hospice for the care they provided in Spade's final days.

Spade was a veteran who served our country in the US Army on active duty during the Korean War. He was well known for his skills as a mechanic, working for area car dealers, retiring from Duncan Ford in Blacksburg. He was happiest when working outside. In retirement, he took care of lawns for many happy customers. Spade was a hard worker his entire life, with strong hands and a strong heart. He never shirked a task.

The Funeral Service will be April 1, 2015, officiated by Pastor Alpheus Atkins in the Horne Chapel.
Interment will follow "up home" at the Amos Quesenberry Cemetery in Willis.
