Roscoe Vinton Marshall, 96, of Arbor Ridge Drive Bluefield, West Virginia passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at his residence.
Roscoe was born on September 10, 1921 in Dugspur, Virginia to the late Ira S. Marshall and Mettie V. Turman Marshall.
He had been a resident of Mercer County for the past twenty five years formerly living in Coalwood, West Virginia for thirty-eight years until his retirement from Olga Coal Company. He was a proud lifelong member of the UMWA local 6026 and a Member of the Masonic Lodge 112 Welch, West Virginia. For a number of years Roscoe sold automobiles for Yeager Ford Sales and Hurd Motors in Welch, West Virginia. He also was a former employee of Nichols Construction Company.
Roscoe will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters, one granddaughter Elizabeth Marie Fragile.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 75 years, Juanita Jewell Marshall of the home; children Judith G. Marshall Haynes and husband Jerry of Bluefield, West Virginia, Donna S. Marshall Butt and husband Gary of Bluefield, West Virginia and Roscoe Vinton Marshall, Jr. and Treese Payne of Harriman, Tennessee. Grandchildren Tyler Butt, Christy Fragile Lockhart and Amanda Fragile. Great grandchildren Timothy Pinter, Tanner Lockhart and Taylor Lockhart.
A Funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, West Virginia with Rev. Doug McDaniel officiating the service. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with Timothy Pinter, Tanner Lockhart, Tyler Butt, Brent Peyton, Tyler Payne and Gary Butt serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
