George L Brown was born in October 1885 in La Plata, Colorado, to Jacob Strawn Brown and Elizabeth Jane Campbell. He had seven siblings. He died in the Mountain Copper Co. Hospital, Keswick, Shasta, California, about 1 week following a mining accident resulting in severe head injuries. He was buried in The Brown Family Cemetery near where his family lived for that last 2 years, following his fathers death from Russian Flu in June 1899, on Dix Ranch near Newton, Shasta Lake, California.

VICTIM OF THE IRON MOUNTAIN ACCIDENT DIES
George Brown the young man who had his skull cracked at Iron Mountain last week died at the Mountain Copper hospital at 6 Monday morning Young Brown after undergoing the trepanning operation apparently rallied and it was believed he would recover although his injuries were very dangerous. About the supper hour Sunday the victim became unconscious brain fever set In and he died twelve hours afterward.
Undertaker Houston sent a casket to Keswick and the funeral will take place Tuesday in Old Diggings where mother lives.

GEORGE BROWN DIES FROM INJURIES RECEIVED AT IRON MOUNTAIN
George Brown died Monday morning at the Mountain Copper hospital in Keswick from the effects of Injuries received at Iron Mountain one day last week. A rock from the sunken where he was work lug accidentally fell and struck him on the head fracturing his skull.
He was a young man barely of age and the son of Mrs Elisabeth Brown who lives in Old Diggings He was the support and comfort of his aged mother who will feel her loss most keenly. She has four other children but the deceased was her main reliance Brown was a brother-in-law of George a Hall of Old Diggings and last season the two families lived on the Dix ranch near Newton.
George Brown was singularly unfortunate. About three months ago he met with an accident which caused the lose of some of his fingers He had only got well enough to go to work once more when he was stricken with the measles Recovering from that he had been at work but a few days when the accident befell him that has now resulted In his death
The funeral and burial will occur at Old Diggings this afternoon under the direction of Undertaker Houston.
