Nannie Fraley Adkins (1921-2009)
Nannie Fraley Adkins, 87, of Argillite, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Mrs. Adkins was born Nov. 26, 1921, in Elliott County, Ky., a daughter of the late Adam and Cynthia Fraley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Adkins; a son, Richard Adkins; three sisters, Zella Barber, Virginia Slone and Freda Salyers; two brothers, Paris and Faris Fraley; and two grandsons, Rodney Adkins and Brian Salyers. She was a homemaker who loved to sew, do "word-seeks" and work in her flowers. She was of the Nazarene faith. She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis and Harold Salyers of Argillite and Joyce Bauman of Columbus, Ohio; three brothers, John Fraley and Toby Fraley, both of Ashland, and Sonny Fraley of Summit, Ky.; two sisters, Alberta (Ronald) McDowell of Ceredo-Kenova, W.Va., and Jeanie Fraley of Ashland; 13 grandchildren, Rickey Adkins, Leigh Ann (Edward) Ashley, Timmy (Renee) Adkins, Beth Taylor, Tim Arthur, Rhonda (Tony) Craft, Carlos (Julie) Arthur, Michelle Jordan, Michael Fette, Ronni (Michael Harris) Bunting, Lloyd (Shelly) Salyers, Patty Salyers and Mark (Marla) Salyers; 22 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Ashley, Brooke Adkins, John Taylor, Jennifer and Ashley Craft,Tabitha, Paige, and Carlynn Arthur, Jessica, Taylor and Madison Fette, Dillion and Shindy Harris, Shane and Harley Salyers, Murranda and Savanna Adkins, Paul Pritchard, Caitlin McCleese and Maddison, Mason, Makenna and Matthew Salyers; and a great-great-grandson, Shaun Roberts. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept.19, 2009, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent in her honor to Community Hospice Care Center 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, KY 41101.
