Thelma Jean Fraley, 81 of Ashland, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2016 at Community Hospice surrounded by her loving family. Born November 12, 1934 in Wurtland, Kentucky, Jean was a daughter of the late Adam and Cynthia Fraley.

Jean was an accomplished artist and received several ribbons for her work in local art shows. She enjoyed the outdoors, loved gardening and seeing the beauty of her labor. Jean was also an avid fan of NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt. She was a precious mother to many yet often said her greatest accomplishment in life was her three children.

Survivors include her three children Steven Fraley and his wife Nellie, Sherrie Meenach and her husband Kevin, and Scott Robinson and his wife Lydia all of Ashland; her five grandchildren Amber Hammonds and her husband Matt, Nick Fraley and his wife Kayla, Seth Fraley, Kelcie Meenach and Brittany Robinette, her three great-grandchildren Britton Hammonds, Caroline Fraley and Cole Fraley; one sister Alberta McDowell; two brothers Rudolph (Tobe) Fraley and James (Sonny) Fraley; and several nieces and nephews.


Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her four sisters Zella Barber, Freda Salyers, Nannie Adkins, and Virginia Sloan and three brothers Paris, Farris, and John Fraley.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Steen Funeral Home, 13th Street, Chapel. Officiating will be her son, Steven Fraley, son-in-law Pastor Kevin Meenach and Pastor Leo Ison. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Family and friends may call 6 to 8 pm Saturday, 9, 2016 at the funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice 1480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, Kentucky.
