Berneeda was born to Henry Herman and Velma Faye (Dolan) Kolz on September 10, 1933 in Bayfield, LaPlata County, Colorado. She spent her childhood in Allison and Ignacio, Colorado where she attended school. She moved to Montrose in 1952 with her family.
Berneeda enjoyed helping her mother with sewing, gardening, and canning. Her favorite past times were hand embroidering various items and reading her Bible. She was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Montrose.
Berneeda was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ruth E. Kolz; four brothers, Joseph E. Kolz, Merle W. Kolz, Harold J. Kolz, and Harvey E. Kolz.
Survivors include nieces, Nancy Quiett (RC) of Casper, Wyoming, Vicky Kay Behrens of Durango, and Wanda Kolz of Arizona; Nephews, Warren Kolz (Erin) of Florida, Ronald Kolz of Texas, Jim Kolz (Lisa) of Texas, and Louis Kolz of Ignacio.
A Visitation for family and friends was held from 5 -7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Clark's Valley Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service in loving remembrance and celebrating Berneeda's life was officiated by Pastor Buddy Cook at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Montrose First Church of the Nazarene.
