Dies At Home Here
Jessie Joe Bloomer. 50, an employee of Southern Bell Telephone Co. the past 19 1/2 years. died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 7 o'clock last night at his home on Nelson Dr.
Mr. Bloomer had been in apparent good health and had not suffered previously from a heart ailment.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Second Baptist Church. His pastor, the Rev. J. H. Maddox, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Bloomer, a native of Trigg County, had been active in various community youth programs here, particularly at Teen Town.
In his memory, Teen Town will be closed tomorrow. Mr. Bloomer had served as an adult leader at the youth center at least once a week for the past two years.
Mr. Bloomer, born June 15, 1910, was a member of Second Baptist Church and the Odd Fellows and Masonic lodges.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carrie Yancey Bloomer; a daughter, Barbara Bloomer; a step-son, Allen N. Eakes; a step -daughter, Mrs. Virgil Jones, and three step-grandchildren, Marsha Gail, Jeffry Lee and Lelia Ann Jones. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Yancey Bloomer, on Aug. 13, 1958.
Other survivors Include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bloomer, Hopkinsville; three brothers, Victor Bloomer, Evansville; Elmo Bloomer, Hamilton, Ohio; and King Bloomer, of the city; and four sisters, Mrs. Ocie Outland, Trigg County; Mrs. Jim Whoberry. Evansville; Mrs. Robert Lee, Hamilton, Ohio, and Mrs. Jimmie Owen, of the city.
Pallbearers, all employees of Southern Bell, will be Harold E. Kelly, G. D. Saturley, I. S. Tabb, W. A. Thompson, E. A. Carpenter, and R. L. Alexander.
The body is at Henninger & Lilly Funeral Home.
