Alfred L. "Bus" Peterson 65 years (1 month and 17 days), of 311 E. Third, Grand Island, NE. died Thursday, September 10,1981, at the Omaha V.A. hospital from open heart surgery.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday September 14, 1981 at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island with the Rev. Robert Wade officiating. Music by: Robert Wissel, and Ernest Bedell. Songs: In the Garden, Old Rugged Cross,and Somewhere my Love. Pallbearers: Louis Nietfeldt, Craig Gillham, Larry Hulit, Gerald Gray, Troy Stimple, Greg Stimple, Bernie Buschow, Tom Timmerman and Charlie Williams. Burial with military rites will be in the family plot at the Aurora NE. cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

A "Celebration of Life" will take place at the Presbyterian Church in Grand Island, NE. following services.

Mr. Peterson was born July 23, 1916, at Aurora, the son of Alfred and Sarah Wray Peterson. He was raised in the Aurora area. He married Betty Gibson the love of his life in 1941. They had one daughter Linda Kay. He entered the Army on Nov. 3rd. 1942 serving in World War II. Staff Sargent Peterson was with the 993rd. Engineer's Treadway Bridge Co. was discharged on Oct.21, 1945.

His father was from Sweden and his mother from Ireland. His Grand father Gustaf Peter Petersson. Grandmother Christina Charlotta Larsdotter (1829) both from Sodra VI, Kalmar, Sweden.

The family spent most of their life in Kearney and Grand Island, NE. Mr.Peterson was employed by the Braun Fruit Company for 12 years, was a security guard for 12 years at the Cornhusker Ordnance Plant and was a security guard at the V.A. Hospital for two years before becoming ill. He was a member of the Aurora Presbyterian Church, Aurora VFW Post 4993, Grand Island Eagles and Saddle Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Linda) Stimple of Hastings; one sister, Mrs. Ted (Jackie) Fogt of Grand Island; five grandchildren (Greg, Chris, Troy, Kim & Steve) and two great grand children (Angel & Tim).
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Clarence, Ray & Bob)and one sister (Mary Jane).
Mr. Peterson was a loving husband and father. He will be missed by family and friends. Heaven has a new Angel.
