Lake Odessa Clare H Blakely 43 died late saturday evening at Penncok hosptial in Hastings following an extended illness. (Cancer)
Born in Lake Odessa May 12 1928, he was the son of Lera Foght and Norman E. Blakely. He moved from kalamazoo and returned to Lake odessa when he was 15. In 1946 he was a gradute of Lake Odessa high school and was emplyeed to Oldsmoble in Lansing for 23 years as a process engineer. He enlisted in the Navy in 1946 and served in the European theater. He was a member of Lakewood United Methodist church and Mens Brotherhood, was past secretary and treasure of the church board of trustee. Sunday school teacher and superintendent member of chior and director of the junior chior. He was affiliated with boy scouts as cub master and was couch League baseball and umpire. He was a past memeber and president of the Olds Rockatires.
He was married to Joy Ann Hample of Lake Odessa,October 8 1949 and she survived. Beside his wife, he also leaves his three sons Bruce Randy and Kelly: three daughters Gay Lynn and Carol ray and Jayne Ann all at home: mother; Mrs Lera Samantha Blakely of Lake Odessa: three brothers Rev Harold Blakely of pigeon, Hale Blakely of Mcfarland WI and Herbert of Lansing One sister Hazel Bos of Kalamazoo.
Mr. Blakely will be at the Pickens funeral home in Lake Odessa unilt 11 am Tuesday when he will be taken to Lakewood United Methodist church fo service at 1:30pm. Rev Wilbur Williams of Jackson will officate and interment will be at Lakeside Cemetey.
