Gertrude lost her mother, Martha, when she was only five years old. She was raised by her father's second wife, Sarah "Sallie" Lydia Qualls. She went on to marry Floyd E. Thomas around 1903 and they moved to Lewis Co., Washington, where Floyd worked as a "Falling Timber" in a Logging Camp as listed in the 1910 census.

She married Albert Lentz in 1962 and cared for him until his death 13 years later in 1975.

Gertrude died ten years later.

Gertrude and Floyd had five children:

i. Leroy "Roy" Allen (1904-1996)

ii. Ruby M. (1905-)

iii. Mabel D. (1907-)

iv. Flora M. (1908-)

v. Hazel M. (1909-1996)

**assuming she is buried in the plot next to her second husband.**
