It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother and friend to many, Dorothy Lee McKee Sneddon, age 85, on March 6, 2010.
Dorothy was born Dec. 22, 1924 to James and Minnie Lowder McKee in the small town of Rigby.
She attended schools in Montpelier as well as the University of Idaho in Moscow and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
She then returned to Montpelier to help take care of her ailing mother. On July 27, 1945, she married her friend and husband, T.R. (Bud) Sneddon. Together, they had two children, Murray T. and Ann. They were married for nearly 55 years until Bud's death in April of 2000.
Dorothy spend most of her life being a homemaker. She always welcomed everyone with a smile. You could always count on "Grandma" to have cookies in the cookie jar. Her famous last words after visiting her were, "Well, if you leave hungry, it's your own fault!" For some reason, everything always tasted better at her house.
With the mention of Dorothy's name, it was not uncommon to hear the words "Classy", "beautiful" or "caring" - these words described her perfectly. Dorothy and Bud enjoyed spending winters at their home in Scottsdale, Ariz. and summers in the beautiful Bear Lake Valley. They enjoyed traveling extensively and visiting many parts of the world. Dorothy loved to play Bridge and she looked forward to being able to visit with many, many friends.
Family and friends were very important to Dorothy. She looked forward to the summer barbecues at the lake. She had very fond memories of socializing with the "dirty dozen" and with long-time family friends, especially Russell Cottle, her life-long friend and companion of the last several years.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, T.R. (Bud); dauther, Ann Sneddon Lear and sister, Zelpha Derricott.
She is survived by her son, Murray T. Sneddon and wife Susan; grandchildren, Heather (Mike) Dirham, Heidi (Matt) Fluegge, Penny (Peter) Sneddon-Stirling, Jocelyn (Greg) Lear-Melhuish, Katie (Andrew) Lear-Heflich. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren who loved her dearly: Kylie, Braxton, Mason, Ben, Jack, Luke, Aidan, Asher, Nicholas and Finnegan.
Mother, Grandma, Dear Friend; Although you will be dearly missed, your memory is a keepsake, with which we'll never part. God has you in his keeping, we have you in our hearts.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
