Mrs. Alice De Jong, 77, 813 N. Roche, Knoxville, died Feb. 15 at her home.

Alice, daughter of Leendert and Wilhelmina De Heus Langstraat, was born on August 2, 1906 in Mahaska County near Peoria, Iowa. She attended grade school in Peoria.

On December 16, 1926 she was united in marriage with Peter K. De Jong at her parents home near Pella, Iowa and they had six children. Following their marriage, they farmed on her parents' farm in Mahaska County near Peoria until moving to Marion County where they lived in the Knoxville, Iowa vicinity. In 1937 they moved into Knoxville where they lived for 47 years.

She was preceded in death by two grandsons: Daniel Lee De Jong and Mark Simmering; her parents; three half-brothers: Peter, Henry John and Herman Lucas Langstraat; two sisters and a brother: Sarah, Mrs. Grover Cotton; Dick Langstraat and Hattie, Mrs. Ralph J. Kuiper.

At the time of her death, Alice and her husband were members of the Gospel Tabernacle in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Services were held Saturday, Feb. 18, 1984 from the First Christian Church, Knoxville, Iowa. The Rev. Fred V. Austin officiated, assisted by the Rev. Le Roy Anderson. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery, Pella.

Memorials may be given to Helps International Ministries, P.O. Box 836, Harlem, Georgia 30814.

The Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
