Mrs. Pol was born December 4, 1900 in Holland to Leendert and Wilhelmina De Heus Langstraat. At the age of two her family came to the United States. On February 17, 1927, she was united in marriage with Peter Pol in Pella. They farmed in the Peoria, Otley and Pella area.
For the past five years Irene has lived at Fair Haven East.
She made her profession of faith at the First Reformed Church of Pella in 1923, where she was currently a member. Formerly, she was a member of the Otley Reformed Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter in 1973; two brothers: Dick and Jacob Langstraat; three sisters: Sara Cotton, Hattie Kuiper and Ellie De Jong; three half brothers: Peter, Henry and Herman Langstraat.
A memorial has been established to Iowa Commission for the Blind.
