Jacob Langstraat, 68, Pella, died May 12 at Pella Community Hospital.

He was born Sept. 9, 1916 in Richland Township near Peoria, the son of Leonard and Wilhelmina De Heus Langstraat.

He grew up and went to school in the Pella area. In the early 1950s, Langstraat move to Runnells and was engaged in farming. Later, he sold insurance and in 1981 he returned to Pella.

He is survived by eight brothers and sisters: Annie Nunnikhoven, Oskaloosa; Irene Pol, Pella; Cornie Langstraat, Eddyville; Leonard Langstraat, Bussey; Minnie, Mrs. Pete Van Ham, Pella; John Langstraat, Knoxville; Paul Langstaat, Knoxville; and Pauline De Jong, South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Peter, Henry, Herman, and Dick; and three sisters: Sarah Cotten, Alice De Jong and Hattie Kuiper.

Services were held May 15 at Third Reformed Church in Pella with Rev. Cornelius Hoekstra officiating. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Pella.

Memorials can be given to Chaplain Ray Prison Ministries.

Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
