Born April 9, 1922, in Knox County, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Johnny and Ada Hubbard Lovins. She married Elmer Smith in 1937.

Mrs. Smith helped her husband manage the Philips 66 Station and Smith's Bait and Tackle Shop in Lizton. They celebrated 67 years of marriage before his death in 2003.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lizton. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and entertaining.

Survivors include daughters Loretta Garland and husband Floyd of Lizton, Thelma Baringer and husband Mike, and Joan Mohr and husband Charles of Jamestown; sons Roy and wife Linda, Glen and wife Melinda of Wallace, Tommy and wife Jane of Pittsboro, and Carl and wife Barbara of Lizton; 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

A son, General (Diane), preceded her in death.

Services are 9 a.m. Friday at Porter Funeral Home in Jamestown with her grandson, the Rev. Randy Smith, officiating. Interment will be at the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Lizton.

Calling at the funeral home is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
