General Smith, 45, Lizton, a retired Marine Corps Master Sergeant, died Friday, December 23, in his home. The son of Elmer and Bessie Lovins Smith, he was born December 3, 1938 in Knox County, Kentucky. He married Diana Padgitt December 30, 1958 at Lizton and she survives. Mr. Smith served 24 years in the Marine Corps, retiring this month, and was a former Fire Chief of Lizton-Union Township Fire Department. Services were Tuesday, December 27, in Porter Funeral Home, Jamestown. Rev Raymond Rader officiated, with burial in Lizton K of P Cemetery. Surviving are wife, Diana; sons, Todd A. and Randy L. Smith; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Smith, Lizton; grandmother, Mrs. Rose Burnette, Salem; brothers, Roy L. Smith, Lafayette; Glen Smith, Advance, Tom Smith, Pittsboro, and Carl Smith, Lizton; sisters, Loretta Garland, Lizton, Thelma Joseph, Lizton, and Joan Mohr, Jamestown.
