Son of Florenz M. Melzer and Anna Dallmus, husband of Florence Barthelme, and brother of Harriet, (married Dalmus), Anna Vail (married Grover Cleveland Bishop), Lizzie, Adam Edward, Richard O. and William Melzer.

In 1905, Florenz Melzer, aged 19, was shown living in the home of his parents, Florenz Melzer, 49, and Anna, 43, on E. 160th Street, Bronx, NY, with siblings, Hattie, 18, Anna, 16, Lizzie, 13, Edward, 11, Richard, 6, and William Melzer, aged 4. Florenz was shown working as a conductor, and his father, Florenz Sr. was a shipping clerk.

In 1915, Frank Melzer, aged 28, carpenter, was shown living on Terry Street, Patchogue, NY, with wife Minnie, aged 22.

On June 5, 1917, Florenz Melzer, age 30, of 274 E. 166th St. New York, NY, born December 21, 1886 in New York City, stated that he was married with a wife and child, and was employed as a carpenter working for House & House Co. at 234 W. 34th Street, NYC, NY, when he registered for the draft during World War I.

In 1925, Frank Melzer, aged 38, carpenter, was shown living on Edwards Street, Patchogue, NY in the home of his widowed mother, Anna Meier, aged 63.

In 1930, Frank Melzer, aged 43, was shown living in the home of his widowed mother, Anna Meier, aged 67, on Edward Street, Patchogue.

Obituary - Florenz Melzer, 67, of 84 Atlantic Avenue, Blue Point, died after an extended illness at his residence last Thursday.

Born in New York City, Mr. Melzer, a carpenter, came to vicinity 45 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Melzer, of Blue Point; two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Dalmus of Patchogue and Mrs. Anna Bishop of Blue Point; and three brothers, Adam Melzer of New York City, Richard Melzer of Maryland and William Melzer of Patchogue.

Funeral services were held at the Pettit Funeral Home, Patchogue, at 2 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Carl G. Gernannt, pastor of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Patchogue, officiating. Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Patchogue.
