Clarence L. Wilcox, 85 of N. Minnequa Ave., Canton died Monday morning, April 19, 1999 at the Bradford County Manor. Born on Dec. 1, 1913 in Stanley, NY, he was a son of the late Ralph and May Sellard Wilcox. Clarence served with the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII until his honorable discharge. He was employed by PennDOT for many years until the early 1970s. He then went to work for the Ward Foundry in Blossburg until his retirement in 1978. Clarence was a member of the Canton VFW Post No. 714, the Morris Run American Legion Post No. 0167 and was a live member of the Marine Corp League in Ralston. In his leisure time Clarence enjoyed taking rides on the mountains and fishing. He is survived by three daughters, Clara Mae Rusk and Janet Fleming, both of Canton, Florence Ann Brown of Laceyville; two sons and their spouses, Hess and Gail Wilcox, Bill and Diane Wilcox, all of Canton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence and Martin Wilcox, both of Canton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. On Aug. 1, 1947, Clarence married the former Erma McNeal in Canton. She predeceased him in September 1990 following 37 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Arnold, Sellard, Emerson and Bill Wilcox; and two sons-in-law, Gary Fleming and Bill Rusk. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 1999 at the Pepper Funeral home, Springbrook Drive, Canton and one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jasper Smith, retired Methodist minister officiating. The Canton VFW will accord military honors following the funeral service at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the Tioga County Memorial Gardens, Wellsboro, Pa. The family suggests that memorials may be directed to the Canton VFW Post No. 714, 28 Troy St., Canton, Pa. in Mr. Wilcox's memory.
